Course Description:
 
      The Evacuation Procedures course is designed to provide an intermediate understanding of a Security Officer’s role during an emergency as well as a basic guideline for conducting an evacuation that minimizes the risk of loss of life. In addition, this course examines high-risk natural events that a Security Officer might encounter while working in the State of California, such as earthquakes and terrorist events. This is a 2-hour elective course that counts towards the 40-hour training requirement for the State of California.
 
 
 
Learning Goals:
 
  • The officer will be provided with an understanding of the various emergencies that can occur and the proper response.
  • The officer will be provided with an understanding and working knowledge of evacuation routes.
  • The officer will be provided an understanding of the procedures to implement during a power outage.
  • The officer will learn that as the security officer on site, specific points of contact need to receive immediate information of an event in order to minimize loss.
  • The officer will be provided with understanding of when and how to use PA systems and/or evacuation alarm systems to notify site personnel about evacuations and emergencies.
